About Barunga
Barunga is a Jawoyn and Mangarrayi community, historically significant as the place where the famous Barunga Statement was presented to Prime Minister Bob Hawke in 1988, calling for a treaty with Aboriginal Australians. The Barunga Festival is held here annually.
